What is the difference between having ATT Uverse internet and voice vs Uverse internet and Vonage?

Isn't Uverse VOICE just VOIP and Vonage is VOIP too but cheaper?|||They are both fundamentally VOIP, but Vonage almost exclusively uses the public Internet (Layer 3 IP), where Uverse VOice uses IP only within the CO for the "local loop"(layer 2), and bridge to the Internet for some long distance, if it has to.|||not really...

uverse is not really VoIP... it is just digital phone service, between the ONT installed at your home, and the central office... it is connected to the same equipment in the central office, as if you would still have a copper pair coming to your home... and does not ever connect to the internet... since the voice service is run on ATTs network the entire time they are able to guarantee QoS of the connection...

vonage is a SIP provider, where the entire connection is run over the public internet - and there is no means for vonage to control, or guarantee any level of QoS...

uverse service will be able to provide you with a reliable connection for fax, and other dial up data connections, such as alarm monitoring, while vonage service would not be able to provide the same reliability for such connections...
