From my Uverse AT&T app I can DVR a show. Does the box at home need to be turned on to dvr? Never had dvr. ?

Thanks! New to dvr and uverse.|||The AT%26amp;T U-verse DVR can record shows when it is in Standby mode. Standby mode is when the power button on the DVR is not lit but the box is still receiving power.
