I am moving into an apartment and haven't had time to buy a TV so for now I would rather have internet connection to my laptop than a television. Is a televsion necessary for Uverse to connect me to the internet?
Also, any thoughts on just purchasing a 'wireless card' or am I taking a risk from going on an unsecured network?|||If you plan to buy a TV soon, there's an advantage in getting your U-Verse installation after getting the TV. The U-Verse technician will connect the U-Verse receiver to your TV, get it working properly, and program the U-Verse remote to your TV.
If you don't have your TV on the premises when the installation is done, then you'll have to do all that yourself when you get the TV. It's not really difficult, but it winds up being a challenge for a lot of people.
But if you just want to start with U-Verse Internet and digital phone, it certainly can be done.|||sure you could get uverse for just internet or internet and phone with out television service... they would love to sell you a triple play package of all 3 services, but it is not required...
if by wireless card you mean a WiFi card - and steal someone elses WiFi signal.. that is never a good thing.. not only is stealing wifi against the law in most cases, it also requires that you trust the network that you are connecting to that the admin did not set the access point up to perform MITM attacks against anyone who pops onto the unsecured wifi network - along with anyone else who may be sniffing the unencrypted traffic on that network..
if you mean a cellular data card, then that should be fine..
